PT Pani Industri Nusantara, a fully-owned subsidiary of PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk, has chosen Doppelmayr’s cutting-edge RopeCon® technology to transport crushed gold ore from its mine site on Sulawesi Island, Indonesia, directly to its carbon-in-leach (CIL) processing plant.
The RopeCon®, the first of its kind in Indonesia, will be capable of transporting more than 5,100 t of material per hour across challenging terrain. PT Pani Industri Nusantara has chosen Doppelmayr’s cutting-edge RopeCon® technology to transport crushed gold ore from its mine site on Sulawesi Island, Indonesia, directly to its processing plant.
Capable of conveying more than 5,100 t of material per hour, RopeCon® was selected as the optimal solution for providing an elevated, direct transport route while minimising environmental impact along the transport route. By eliminating the need for extensive ground infrastructure, the aerial conveying system is ideally suited for challenging terrains.
Stretching approximately 550 m in a single flight and overcoming an elevation difference of more than 130 m, RopeCon® will transport material safely and efficiently across difficult landscape while ensuring high operational reliability.
Beyond material transport, the system contributes directly to the mine’s sustainability goals. Through regenerative braking, the downhill operation generates approximately 2 MW of clean electrical power, which will be reused within the mining operation. This not only reduces energy consumption and operating costs but also contributes to the project’s overall carbon footprint reduction.
The Pani CIL project represents another significant milestone for Doppelmayr and it says demonstrates how innovative transport technologies can create lasting value by combining operational excellence, economic efficiency, and environmental care.
